Its PGA Championship week! I am ready for some great golf and competition. The LIV and PGA players/bestfriends are back together in an epic showdown at Valhalla. I'm sure it will be full of heartbreak and disappointments but I am here for it. I have some thoughts on the tournament but let me go over my top picks this week:
Scottie Scheffler
I really don't have to explain. Add in the fact that him and his wife just welcomed their first son into the world and the giant just got bigger. The guy wins everything, just throw your money his way.
Rory Mcllroy
Rory is coming off of a dominant win at the Wells Fargo, winning by a whopping five strokes. He pairs that with a win a couple weeks before at the Zurich Classic with Shane Lowry. When golfers are riding a wave, I like to ride it with them. Rory hasn't missed a cut in in his last ten tournaments, finishing top 25 in most of them. It seemed for a while there that he just couldn't get over the hump but now that he finally won, I think his confidence will be at an all time high.
Xander Schauffele
Like Rory, Xander is finishing high in the standings but just cant seem to finish. He has finished top ten in 8/12 tournaments this year and hasnt won. That is insane to me. I am going to continue to pick Xander until he gets a win because he has to be due for a win soon. I am sure he will be lurking in the top 10 for most of the tournament. Can he make it over that hump this week at the PGA? We shall see.
Brooks Koepka
Defending champion Brooks Koepka returns to the PGA championship well rested, looking for a repeat win. I love brooks in Majors because all he does is win. That actually seems to be the case for all LIV players. They don't show up to play at the LIV events but LOVE to show out at the majors. Brooks is the exception, finishing 9th at LIV Adelaide and then winning in Singapore. He loves this tournament, winning in 2019, 2018, and 2023. I think he comes out swinging, no pun intended.
